Aim for the displayed size
Upload images close to the size they are shown. A picture shown 800 pixels wide does not need 4000 pixels. Extra pixels only slow the page down.
Typical sizes
| Use | Size |
|---|---|
| Full-width banner | 1920 × 1080 |
| Blog image | 1200 × 630 to 1200 × 800 |
| Square product photo | 1000 × 1000 |
| Thumbnail | 300 × 300 |
Target file weight
Most web images look good between 80KB and 200KB. Use the 100KB or 200KB tool.
Use modern formats
WebP is usually smaller than JPG at the same quality. Convert with the JPG to WebP tool.
Check mobile
Most visitors use phones. Test your page on mobile data speeds and remove any image that is larger than it needs to be.
